Time is on the wing
How often I’ve heard that said
But only when you are older
Can you see the truth instead
As hours fly by
What once had been a moment
Has now become a day
Birthdays ever constant
Mass without delay
The only thing that’s slower
Is your body in decay
But still it has it’s good points
People treat you like a child
Worrying you might say something
That the world will think is wild
So say it like you mean it
And laugh at the unease
For when you reach our ripe old age
Say just what you please.

Buttercup
The buttercup in splendour
Lays amongst the grass
Spreading out her beauty
While taking on the task
Of calling all the insects
That might be passing by
To come and taste her nectar
That she gives without a sigh
For in it lies her future
To go beyond her roots
While searching for that promise
That in her heart is true
That she is meant for great things
Beneath a sky of blue
To fill this field with yellow
That glows within her hue
Some may come and pick her
And speak of their true love
But she will gaze forever
At the heavens up above
