A Restless Stone
“Why are you running”? said the stone to the flow
“And when you leave here just where do you go” ?
“Little stone don’t ask questions
For can’t you see
I’m off to that place that I’m meant to be”
“Then can I come with you ?
Can I hitch a ride ?
To take me away from this bleak mountainside”
“Alas you’re too heavy
To wander with me
As I travel quickly way out to the sea”
“Oh please I’m so desperate to just get away
And roll in your current who’s joys you display”
“Here little stone I’ll give you a push
Over this cliff top and into my thrust
But then I must leave you without further delay
As I gather up speed upon my sweet way”
So the stone it did fall as if out of the sky
While glancing off others as it passed them by
Until in a blink it just came to a rest
On the banks of a river were it lost its zest
For then in that moment, it found its sweet home
With others just like him so he was not alone

Please tell me why you whisper
Why not speak right out loud
For you have a voice of vision
That not a thought should cloud
We cannot tell your story
Unless you speak the words
About your hopes for a future
No matter how absurd
For whose to say you’re silly
You might make perfect sense
And the world in all its glory
Could be completely dense.
For fools they seldom differ
And great minds think alike
But the voice that’s starts as a whisper
One day could prove just right.
