He once was full of action
But now he sits and stares
His limbs are not responsive
Now lost through wear and tear
His world has shrunk to four walls
In which he is confined
The nurses turn his pillows
And treat him very kind
Right now he’s lost to memories
His smile is wide and broad
The limits of his movements
Don’t stop his brain at all
Thank god he has a story
In which he did abound
Sometimes he played the hero
And other times the clown
His friends he knows are waiting
Sometimes he hears their call
We need one more for cricket
And bring with you a ball
Time it ebbs so quickly
His soul it cannot stay
This vessel called his body
Will soon just fade away
Its course has gone so rapid
It brings with it a smile
To a soul that’s lived a lifetime
And dwelled with us a while

Angel of Nature
You carry each dawn before you
As you travel through the clouds
You skate on crested wave tops
As on the beach they crowd
You scale up every mountain
To take in all their views
For there’s nothing here in nature
That can turn its back on you
You watch the seasons carefully
Just to keep them in review
You chase away the moonbeams
So they can come anew
You paint the stars at sunset
And place them in the sky
Sweet angel of nature
On you we can rely

ANGELS SUNSETS
AS ANGELS CHASED A VAPOUR TRAIL
ACROSS A VACANT SKY
THEIR WINGS CARESSED THE EVENING SUN
THAT MADE THE EARTH SO DRY
THEY TRIED TO COAX A TINY CLOUD
TO COME AND QUENCH THE SOIL
AND SPREAD SWEET NATURE’S BOUNTY
ON GROUND SO HARD FROM TOIL
THEY WHISPERED TO A PASSING BREEZE
AND MADE IT BRUSH THE TREES
WHOSE BOUGHS DID PAY THEM HOMAGE
AS DAYTIME TOOK ITS LEAVE
THEY SUMMONS UP THE STARLIGHT
TO HERALD IN THE MOON
WHILE IN THE WEST THE SUNSET
REFLECTED TO THEIR TUNE
THEN AT LAST IN RHYTHM
THEY SCANNED THIS COSMIC SCENE
WHILE FLOATING ON A MOONBEAM
WITHIN A NIGHTIMES DREAM
THEY TURN TOWARDS MY VANTAGE
AND WAVED TO ME ADIEU
THEN SET OFF IN THE NIGHTSKY
TO START A DAY ANEW
