I bought a night time butterfly
To shine upon the elves
So they could have a party
And just enjoy themselves
A break away from cleaning
And washing with the dew
A time to let their hair down
And sing some songs anew
Perhaps they’ll drink some nectar
And dance amongst the weeds
While skirting around the nettles
Whose leaves forever tease
The fireflies will guard them
And keep them all from harm
Those joyful little people
Who give my garden charm…..
Please
Tax me Lord if I should miss
The perfumed fragrance of your kiss
If I should walk with eyes so blind
That miss the things that you’ve designed
Please
Tax me Lord if I should dance
And stop the meek in their advance
If I should stray from loves true ways
And waste each moment of my days
Please
Tax me Lord if I should sleep
While all around me stand and weep
Or I should think that I am the best
While I pull down all of the rest
Please
Tax me Lord if I should fail
To leave a life without a trail
Or if I walk for all to see
So wrapped up in only me
Please Lord just tax me
