An Empty Mind

It’s a long time since I sat here

And emptied out my mind

Then looked between the spaces

To see what I could find

For it seems to me forever

Since I was in my youth

And now that I am older

I suspect I know the truth

We travel life’s trail so willingly

Making decisions every day

And from the very start

We stumble on our way

Sometimes we’ll score a victory

Alas sometimes a fail

But that makes a vivid story

When we retell the tale

For nothing will be missing

When we conclude our life

And fill those empty spaces

With things both wrong and right…
