Three very different poems from my archives

The Key

The door that leads to heaven
Is always open wide
You’ll never need a key
For you to go inside
You may think you can’t reach it
Or you really aren’t that good
But God and all his Angels
Are never there to judge
They’ll put their love around you
And beckon you inside
Then wash you in forgiveness
So you don’t have to hide
Everything you’ve lived through
Will pass as in review
But nothing that has happened
Will put the blame on you
For souls that go in learning
Will never need a key
To find their way in heaven
Where all can come for free

The Earth Is Getting Dizzy

The earth is getting dizzy
from spinning round and round
it’s bound to go off center
at least that’s what I’ve found
the motion of the twirling
always makes me sick
As I stagger around the garden
In circles oh so big
perhaps it does not notice
as stars go hurling by
or maybe I should standstill
and just take in the sky

The Locks of Love and Friendship

Each lock is like a union

Of couples in their pairs

Though it does not really matter

What memories they stir

For each will tell a story

About the days gone by

And what is in the future

Or how the land may lie

Although the locks are fastened

No sign of keys remain

So they will stay forever

With only rust to stain

And what of those who left them

I really could not say

For the locks are just a token

Of a love that lived that day

Thoughts to Ponder – “We are chained by our own control. Life is nothing more than finding the key that unlocks every part of our soul.” – Shannon L Alder
