I stopped on the road to Babylon

To catch up with my breath

And sit beside the Euphrates

To wash my feet and rest

My search was almost over

For there not far away

Lay a thing of total wonder

The Gods had built one day

A garden of such beauty

It rose up to the sky

Tiered in many sections

With vines that caught the eye

Beyond them rows of flowers

In colours bright and clear

Radiating welcomes

For insects all to hear

I gathered up my journal

And made a steady climb

To wander in the glory

Of a place of such divine

It’s then I saw the Angels

Drifting through each row

Talking to the gardeners

Who helped the gardens grow

It’s then it overwhelmed me

The view before my eyes

The doorway into heaven

That beckoned me inside

I wandered through its portals

Enveloped by Gods love

Within the hanging gardens

Of a past that’s lost for good.
