The Couple
Their fingers touched so gently
You really could not tell
The thoughts that passed between them
As if it were a spell
You may have seen them often
Strolling around the town
But now their gait is slower
At eating up the ground
Although you do not know them
They always give a smile
And bid to you good morning
While stopping for a while
They sit upon a long bench
Surveying all the shops
As people rush on by them
With scarce a glance to spot
A look would pass between them
That gently seemed to say
Thank God we’ve got each other
To pass away the day

Thought for The Week – The only difference between a saint and a sinner is that every saint has a past and every sinner a future – Oscar Wilde
Relic to the Past
At times you’ll see a building
That shouts about its past
Screaming out the history
Of times that did not last
Reflecting out its structure
That’s marred by times cruel hand
Whilst standing oh so upright
Upon its conquered land
The labours of its builders
Are seen from far and near
As the details of its features
With light become so clear
A stain upon the landscape
Or something you hold dear
Just how you think about it
Is up to you I fear
