In the 1950’s the scooters we had as children were a very different affair to the electric scooters we see today, they were propelled by foot power. No wonder my knees now click so much.

Once I had a scooter
On which I used to roam
Flying around the district
But not too far from home
Every little errand
I took within my stride
Swapping over my legs
The minute they got tired
Nothing seemed to faze me
As I wheeled around
It amazes me now thinking
The way I covered ground
But alas there must be payment
For all the things we do
And the fact I’m in bed now
Might give you quite a clue
My knees it seems are worn out
Nobbled by my time
Of flying around the district
On a scooter that was mine.

I’m planting seeds for futures

Those of yours and mine

That germinates in caring

In soil that is divine

The tears of all the Angels

Will fertilize each stem

As they push towards the heavens

So we’ll remember them

The petals of each flower

Will scent the evening breeze

With promises of kisses

Those cherubs give with ease

The harvest will be endless

With garlands full and bright

That feed the passing moments

As they go on their flight

Then at last in giving

I find the very seeds

To plant for all our futures

As life repeats its wheeze

A BILLION CELLS MAKE LITTLE ME
THIS THING OF TRIUMPH THAT YOU CAN SEE
JUST HOW THIS WORKS I AM NOT SURE
AND IF I DID I’D BE A BORE
SO I’LL ACCEPT THE WAY THINGS ARE
WHILE WISHING ON A DISTANT STAR
THAT MY CELLS THEY ARE QUITE HAPPY

A BILLION ATOMS MAKE UP A CELL
BUT GIVE OR TAKE A FEW AS WELL
JUST HOW THIS WORKS I AM NOT SURE
AND IF I DID I’D BE A BORE
SO I’LL ACCEPT THE WAY THINGS ARE
WHILE WISHING ON A DISTANT STAR
THAT MY ATOMS THEY ARE QUITE HAPPY
