Passing the Buck

My child asked me a question
But I baulked at my reply
For am I giving wisdom
Or just a wistful lie
For the truth about each subject
Is not for me to know
And when pressed for the answer
I don’t know what I know
So I fake that I’m not listening
And silence fills the air
Or say, go ask your mother
For she’s only over there

Lullaby to God

I kneel and sing a thank you

A lullaby to god

Within this magic music

I wrap up all my love

I’ll send to him my kisses

To plant upon his cheek

And ask for his forgiveness

In all things that I’m weak

The sun and stars above me

Reflect within his eyes

And though I’ll learn forever

I’ll never be so wise

Though angels dress my thinking

In hope they can persuade

That life is everlasting

And not a thing to fade

For what I used in daytime

Will come again each night

And if I use it wisely

It will return again just right

So on my knees I worship

Beside my little bed

And sing a song to heaven

Where all god’s love is fed

Restless Dreams

Restless do I wander

While looking for the dawn

Beyond the east horizon

Where daylight it is borne

It grows with light and colour

A sight for all to see

Another days adventure

Just made for you and me

The silence of the dark night

Surrenders to the sound

Of nature in her glory

Whose music does abound

It calms my every moment

Till stillness takes its place

And casts out all my dark dreams

Removed without a trace

Its then I’ll have a blank page

Upon which I can write

Another little story

About this humans life.

Though to Ponder – The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes. – William James
