Lotions and potions
To make you look young
In bottles and jars
From places far flung
They go on like treacle
And set firm and hard
Thus giving the face texture
Like a packet of lard
Those wrinkles that bug you
Are your body outside
Reflecting the things
That go on inside
Toxins and worries
That chase you each day
No lotion or potion
Can ever take away
But listen my friends
Please do not despair
I’ve wrinkles a plenty
And I really don’t care
For I’ve found the answer
That brings me much cheer
A mirror a mirror
I never go near

Our Inner Mind

Let him speak for who can say

Just what gems will come your way

For he will talk straight from his heart

Without the need to stop and start

For innocents it needs no thanks

As from his lips it will dance

He will say just what he sees

And not embellish someone else’s needs

For we forget about that time

When you just said what was on our mind

For now we live most times with fear

On how to phrase our thoughts most clear

In case they cause offence

PAINTED CLOUDS

IF I COULD PAINT

I’D PAINT THE CLOUDS

THAT SHOUT AT ME

SO CLEAR AND LOUD

THAT TALK OF HILLS

SOME GREEN, SOME BARE

AND MAKE ME WISH

THAT I WAS THERE

THAT TALK OF SEAS

SO BLUE AND BRIGHT

AND ALL THE BIRDS

IN SEASONED FLIGHT

THAT TALK OF STARS

THAT LIGHT THE SKY

AS IN THE NIGHT

THEY ALL PASS BY

THAT TALK OF SANDS

THAT SWIRL AND TURN

TO BLEACH THE LAND

LIKE BARREN PEARLS

THAT TALK OF THUNDER

WITH CRASHING MIGHT

WHILE KISSING THE EARTH

WITH LIGHTENING BRIGHT

THAT TALK OF RAIN

TO QUENCH THE LAND

AND SPREAD IT AROUND

LIKE GODS SWEET HAND

THAT TALK OF NATURE

WITH THRILLS AND CARE

AND MAKE ME WISH

THAT I COULD SHARE

THESE CLOUDS THAT

I CAN’T PAINT
