Illumination

We all run from out the dark

As we dance our light into the stars

Like lightening forks that have no end

We gain the force that will not bend

For we are part of all you see

The merest speck on eternity

Our higher selves will never fade

As to each new life we come to raid

For some will shine but not for long

As they bow out to the sirens song

Some may dim as if with age

While looking for that different page

But all will be illuminated.

Once someone’s holiday joy in Almeria

Lost Buildings

Gone are the buildings that stood in my youth

Now lost to progress that pretends to be truth

And what of their history just crushed to the ground

Now covered with new life whose voice does resound

Perhaps I’m romantic to harp on the past

Though present is present and not meant to last

Except in the memory that sits in the mind

Which thinks of these things and treats them so kind

For none of life’s sadness can really remain

For all things we see forever will change

A tapestry made in seconds of time

That once they have been and now truly reside

Within a fractured thought.

Omens

What are these things called omens
What really do they say
As the world it spins around us
Lots will come our way
I won’t stand where there is danger
At least that which is known
But omens say keep moving
For there’s dangers that can roam
Be like the sea stay restless
And move from shore to shore
For mountain soon will wander
From where they where before
And stones can be quite heavy
As they tumble to the ground
So the omens say go sailing
And safety will be found
Perhaps the world is changing
Far beyond belief
But if you listen to the omens
You will not come to grief
