Two poems one from 2010 and the other 2009
ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN
I’M THE WHISPER OF A PROMISE
AS IT DRIFTS BETWEEN THE TREES
I’M THE BLESSING OF A FLOWER
CASTING SCENT OUT TO THE BREEZE
I’M THE CALL OF NESTING LOVEBIRDS
AS THEY WARBLE THEIR LAMENT
I’M THE STAR THAT GUIDES THE SAILOR
AS THE AUTUMN STORMS RELENT
I’M THE TINY LITTLE SNOWFLAKES
THAT MASKS THE GRASS SO GREEN
I’M THE LIGHT THAT’S ALL AROUND YOU
BUT SELDOM AM I SEE
I’M THE BREATH THAT’S IN THE LONGING
OF A PRIEST AT NIGHTS RETREAT
I’M THE OHM IN LIFE’S VIBRATIONS
THAT HEALS YOU AS YOU SLEEP
I’M THE SUM OF ALL YOUR THINKING
AS YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE EACH DAY
I’M THE CENTRE OF YOUR BEING
I’M YOUR SOUL IN FULL DISPLAY
WOOD NYMPH
IN THE QUIET OF MY GARDEN
BETWEEN THE FLOWERS BRIGHT
THERE PLAYS PRETTY WOOD NYMPH
WITH WINGS OF GOLDEN LIGHT
SHE CASTS OUT ALL HER MAGIC
TO DANCE AMONGST THE VINES
AND PAINTS THE LITTLE PETALS
IN COLOURS SO DEVINE
SHE GLISTENS IN THE SUNLIGHT
AND SPARKLES IN THE RAIN
FOR THERE’S NOTHING IN MY GARDEN
THAT SHE ALONE CAN’T CLAIM
SOMETIMES BENEATH A TOADSTOOL
SHE SITS AND TALKS TO LEAVES
SHE TELLS THEM IN THE AUTUMN
TO WAVE GOODBYE TO TREES
THEN IN THE COLDEST WINTER
SHE’LL LAY AND COUNT THE STARS
AND MEASURE ALL THE SNOWFLAKES
THE MORNING SUN DEVOURS
I KNOW THAT SHE’S A BLESSING
A NYMPH OF PURE DELIGHT
AS SHE DRESSES ALL MY GARDEN
AND MAKES IT WORK JUST RIGHT
Misplaced Energy
Waves misplace their energy
By crashing on the shore
Beating out their rhythms
With surf you can’t ignore
Recoiling from their landing
With dissipating ease
While swirling around each rock form
Whose form they like to tease
Now sailors know the dangers
If they should come to near
A shipwreck in the making
A thing that all should fear
Alas some aren’t so lucky
And flounder in the tide
So watch out for a light house
And let it be your guide
For waves they have no feelings
And simple rush to shore
Carrying all like balsam
As to the land they claw
