I lingered in my garden
To dwell in natures peace
While swirling all around me
The tempest winds did sweep
The rains from distant oceans
Came dancing out of clouds
And beat the hardened earth back
In rhythms oh so loud
The leaves they hung in sorrow
While weeping off the rain
But all I heard was silence
For which I can’t explain
My garden felt my presence
Yet never seemed to yield
The things that it was feeling
As to this storm it reeled
For nature gives such sweet things
But always must be paid
Like now inside my garden
As a summer storm prevails
