In The Shade
The sun it showed no mercy
So I sat in the shade
Reflecting on the sunshine
As it heated where was paved
The flowers did not falter
And gazed right to the light
Accepting every moment
As if it were their right
The rain had passed so quickly
The earth began to dry
Sweating out its moisture
In steam that seemed to fly
Insects in such hurry
Ran and flew with glee
Gathering in the bounty
That nature gave for free
With drooping eyes I drifted
Into a summer sleep
Beneath an old umbrella
In whose company I did keep

Oh when did it happen
For I did not see
When I became you
And you became me
Did it start in my sleep time
Is that how it works
When fathers become sons
And they in reverse
You tell me to do things
In ways I recall
Like please do not wander
Be careful don’t fall
Mind all the traffic
And fasten your coat
Don’t worry I’ll get you
Some sweets for that throat
It’s not that I’m frightened
But the world moves so fast
I just can’t believe
My life has flew past
So I’ll nod in agreement
What else can I do
When I am the child
That I once thought of as you

The love of the Angels
Transcends through your life
Beyond all those moments
Of sunshine and strife
For nothing can faze them
No matter how strange
They simply accept them
And then rearrange
No matter how lonely
You sometimes may feel
The love of your Angels
Will always be real
So bathe in their loving
And dream in their care
For your loving Angels
