The Smiling Man

The joy of it all just made him smile

As he sat on that wall for quite a long while

He saw mothers with babies held in their arms

And fathers right by them in a relative calm

An old deck chair seller snored under a tree

While people sat down on his chairs without fee

Small birds in their dozens just pecked at the sand

Searching each grain for food to be found

Waves on the foreshore ebbed back to the sea

Pulling at pebbles that longed to be free

Bathers with goggles created a sight

As they snorkeled around in swell that was light

Here was some pictures some moments in time

That captured his thoughts at least for a while

As he sat upon that wall.

The Sound of Raindrops

I love the sound of raindrops

For they wash away my cares

Each little drop of water

Brings escape from all my fears

They travel such a long way

To dance upon my scene

A gift that’s from the heavens

A part of natures dream

They are gathered from the corners

Of an earth so far and wide

So no matter where you wander

From them you cannot hide

But then again why would you

For surely you can see

God gave us these sweet raindrops

To set are spirits free.
