I live beneath a rainbow
That visits during rain
The colours of my being
In the sky above do frame
I have no start or ending
And seldom touch the ground
But I spread a kind of magic
Though my treasures are rarely found
I’m always here around you
In everything you view
A gift from mother nature
From her, to me, to you
A fool may think me golden
Or silver like the moon
And chase around forever
To claim my prize so true
But they have missed the answer
Which God has made so clear
A crock of gold is treasure
But life itself more dear

Life’s Stepping Stones

Life is like a river
With stones to cross its path
But just which ones to step upon
Can be a mammoth task
For some can be quite slippy
And some won’t hold your weight
But when you’ve stepped upon them
By then it’s far too late
But this crossing is essential
For you know you need to be
Upon the other distant bank
Where you can roam for free
For this river holds a challenge
Another test in life
Were you have to make that journey
Towards that distant light
Where all your goals are waiting
For you alone to find
Across abridge of stepping stones
Which you yourself designed.

RUSSIAN IVY

YOU’D THINK I’D LOVE THE IVY
BUT REALLY THAT’S NOT SO
BECAUSE WHEREVER I SEE IT
IS WHERE IT SHOULD NOT GROW
LIKE IN BETWEEN THE FENCE POSTS
OR AROUND MY LOVELY SHRUBS
AND IT GROWS SO VERY QUICKLY
IN ANY PLACE OR TUB
I CUT IT BACK QUITE HARSHLY
BUT STILL IT DOES RETURN
THIS THING CALLED RUSSIAN IVY
WHICH I THINK I’LL HAVE TO BURN

Thought to Ponder – It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend.”
