Three completely different poems this week

In Praise of a Tree

Oh what a friend I see in thee

For all Gods gifts are in a tree

You give me shade from out the sun

And mask me from the rain that comes

You bear me fruit that I can eat

While standing still in a form so neat

You stop the snow so it can’t drift

And give me boughs to climb and lift

You gather birds to rest their wings

And in the morn you let them sing

You hold their nests away from harm

While rocking gently in relaxing calm

And when the wind it gathers speed

You slow it down and make it weave

Then in the night as I sleep

Natures lungs you’ll wash and sweep

Then come the dawn when I awake

And draw in the breath that you did make

I’ll thank you for your care

Not for me to say

You ask me your questions

But I’m not that wise

For what I might say

Could turn into lies

For answers well meaning

May not be best placed

For what I think truthful

May not be the case

So look to yourself

For knowledge you crave

And listen intently

And always be brave

For sometimes the right thing

Will leave you exposed

But really my friends

That’s just how it goes

So follow your instinct

And just let it be

Then the truth will be yours

As it only can be

Party Angel

An Angel came to visit
And talk with me today
She said that life’s a party
Where only humans play
A chance to meet and wonder
Just what each day would bring
And no matter how we planned it
We don’t control a thing
For we are on a journey
Which starts with our first breath
And every moment that we wander
Is really just a test
To leave this place much smarter
Than on the day we came
As we dance right through a party
That really has no name.

Thought To Ponder – Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don’t understand the language that you’re singing in, they still know good music when they hear it. – Lou Rawls
