Not Owning

You eat and breathe such hatred
That I can only ask
Where have you put forgiveness?
That thing from which you fast
No creature in the cosmos
Deserves to live in fear
But that is what you peddle
So let’s make that quite clear
You justify your cruelty
By saying it’s defence
But you create a sorrow
Because you won’t relent
Now god has given freedom
In everything we do
And we must own our actions
That means both me and you
For life can be so fleeting
And the earth we cannot own
So at least while we are living
Let’s make it a happy home

LONG SHADOWS

LONG SHADOWS ARE CAST

IN RESPECT OF THE SKY

MARKING THE PLACES

WHERE LIVING THINGS LIE

EACH OUTLINE SUGGESTS

THERE’S STILL ROOM TO GROW

WHILE CASTING THEIR VISION

ABOVE AND BELOW

BUT SHADOWS LIE WAITING

TO BE CARRIED BY LIGHT

FOR THEY ALL ARE HIDDEN

IN THE DARKNESS OF NIGHT

ITS THEN YOU WONT SEE THEM

FOR THEY’RE NOT SO CLEAR

BUT TAKE IT FROM ME

THEY’LL ALWAYS BE HERE

THEIR SHAPES MAYBE DIFFERENT

AND CHANGING WITH TIME

BUT SHADOWS REFLECT

 A WORLD THAT IS MINE

Thought to Ponder – “It’s so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone.”- John Steinbeck
