STARDUST BECKONS
ON AN AUTUMN SKY
SUMMERS FADING
TO THE SEAGULLS CRY
WILTING LEAVES
MOCK AT THEIR BOUGHS
DAYS THEY GROW SHORTER
AS IF BY HOURS
FROSTY MORNS
PEEK INTO VIEW
ICY BLASTS
GIVE US A CLUE
NOCTURNAL SLUMBERS
KEEP US IN BED
ON PILLOWS LAY
OUR SLEEPY HEADS
ALL AT ONCE
THE SEASON TURNS
FOR SUMMERS DAYS
WE CAN BUT YEARN
FOR NOW AT LAST
THEY’VE PASSED AWAY
TO COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY
Starting at the bottom
The only way was up
And as you climb each layer
You only look above
But when you reach your limit
It’s then that you look down
And spied a upon the chaos
That you had spread around
For gaining every purchase
That got you to each rung
You’d caused collateral damage
With promises unsung
Friends who thought you’ve left them
By calls you never made
Or boasting like a peacock
About the life you craved
So now you sit in glory
Which no one wants to share
Except for all the yes men
Who really do not care
It could have been so different
If you’d just watched your feet
No toes you have stood on
No pride you would defeat
Alas you’re lessons over
And I bid you adieu
For I’ve got friends to savour
The ones I took from you….
Somewhere in the distance
Not so far away
I met a lovely Angel
While he was out to play
He put his wings around me
And bathed me in his smile
But that was like a nothing
Once I’d looked into his eyes
For all those happy memories
I thought that I’d forgot
Were played again before me
So clearly I had not
I saw again the people
From days so long ago
When life for me was simple
At least I thought it so
I sat beneath my mother
As she gentle combed my hair
And giggled with my brothers
That once was always there
Our dog it licked my fingers
Like it had a thousand times
And knew it was a Thursday
For everybody sighed
Soon dad would be amongst us
With his face as wise as time
Another gift from off an Angel
Of life that once was mine
So peaceful
Swirling clouds
Invade my mind
In search of dreams
They hope to find
Chimes reflecting
Heavens light
Play earths sweet tune
With all their might
Commanding kisses
From the passing breeze
With dancing rhythms
They do tease
While i in slumbers
Softly stir
Within each moment
Capture there
Lost in search of dreams
Thought to Ponder – “I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, ‘How many good things have you done in your life?’ rather he will ask, ‘How much love did you put into what you did?”- Mother Teresa
