FEATHERS DROP AROUND ME
BUT NO SIGN OF A BIRD
IS SOMEONE FROM MY PAST
REQUESTING TO BE HEARD
DO THE ANGELS GUIDE THEM TO ME
WITH THEIR PURE AND LOVING LIGHT
ARE THEY CLOSE ENOUGH TO TOUCH ME
BUT OUT OF EARTHLY SIGHT
IF I LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY
WILL I UNDERSTAND THEIR VOICE
WILL I THINK OF THEM WITH PLEASURE
AND MAKE THEIR WORDS MY CHOICE
WILL I SMELL FORGOTTEN PERFUMES
FROM GOLDEN DAYS GONE BY
WILL I REALISE JUST WHO IT IS
AND THEN BEGIN TO CRY
WILL I THINK OF THEM WITH SUNSHINE
AS ON A SUMMERS DAY
WILL I SAY TO THEM I’M SO PLEASED
THEY CAME TO ME TODAY

April Garden

My garden is sleeping
So don’t make a noise
The birds in their slumber
In treetops deploy
But first sign of morning
They will break into song
While waiting for sunshine
And day that is long
Right now all the dewdrops
Are ready to spread
On green little shoots
That long to be fed
The wind through the bushes
Plays a night time lament
As the moon in its journey
Has moonbeams to vent
Across a silent sky.
